As a visual artist, I attempt to represent and resolve concerns, problems, and ideas visually. In this series, I represent one of the biggest problems of this century, the disappearance of our planet earth’s forests.
Some researchers have predicted that by 2030 only 10% of our forests will be left, and this is a frightening thought. In these images I depict landscapes from Puerto Rico, a tropical island, showing only 10% of the original images. These images make us question not just what are they representing, but also how detached we are from this truth.
When one doesn’t see or feel the¬ increasing tropical deforestation it is easy to ignore. When the viewer looks at the disappearing landscapes exhibited they are challenged with the idea; even though we can ignore what we cannot see it will still affect us.
